'I Loved It!' Selena Gomez Defends Miley Cyrus' VMAs Performance

Miley Cyrus may have shocked everyone from Taylor Swift to Will Smith and his kids with her outlandish MTV VMAs performance on Sunday night but her grinding and tongue flashing had at least one fan in the star-studded audience- her pal Selena Gomez.
The Come & Get It star has praised Miley's headline-grabbing performance of We Can't Stop, which also saw her team up with Robin Thicke for his hit Blurred Lines.
Speaking backstage to E! News, Selena insisted it was a great performance from Miley and was her favourite moment of the entire show:
"I really thought the collaboration with Miley was amazing … Loved [it]," Gomez declared. She added of Thicke failing to win any major awards: "I thought Robin should have won!"
Not everyone shared her enthusiasm though with Taylor Swift, who was sat next to Selena, caught giggling throughout the performance.

And T-Swizzle wasn't the only left stunned! The performance was sprinkled with shots of the unimpressed crowds, with Rihanna looked barely amused by a wayward Cyrus, while One Direction appeared to be desperately holding back their laughter.
Miley's devoted dad though didn't seem to notice, or care, about his daughter's controversial live comeback as he simply tweeted last night: "Thanking God for so many blessings tonight. Continue to pray for world peace. More love ...less hate."
The vague tweet makes no reference to Miley or the VMAs but the coincidental timing, just hours after the VMAs, suggests Billy could have been referring to his daughter's headline-grabbing act.

Demi Lovato Promises A ‘Softer Side’ To Simon Cowell

X Factor judge Demi Lovato said that fans will see a “softer side” of famously cantankerous judge Simon Cowell in coming seasons after she managed to crack his acerbic “tough guy” exterior.

“I think we’ve cracked his shell a little bit,” Lovato told E! News of her co-host.
“I think people are going to see that he’s actually a really nice guy. It doesn’t mean he’s going to be any more polite to contestants that he doesn’t think are talented. But people are going to see a softer side of him definitely this year.
Lovato and Cowell have become well-known for their sometimes-heated onscreen bouts, but the 20-year-old singer says that she believes she has finally rubbed off on him in a positive way.
“People are surprised, and I was definitely surprised — especially after working with him for so long, too. He’s just continued to surprise me… in being just a really great person and he’s really sensitive and he’s a good guy and people only see the really mean Simon on TV. The thing is he’s just saying what all of us are thinking anyways.”
Cowell became famous in the public mind for his often brutally honest critiques of music hopefuls on shows like American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent. Though his crankiness is part of his appeal, it might be interesting to see him dole out as much encouragement as criticism in coming seasons of The X Factor.
